On a wonderful Saturday Morning, we met up at 930am to visit the Fire Station!

We were honored to have LTA Foo and Captain Andy guide us =)))

Captain Andy explaining parts of the Fire Engine and how a fire is being put out.

Whilst we were at the station, there was a call for an Ambulance almost every 10-15 minutes. Yeap there are ambulances parked at the fire stations across our sunny island. There's a life in danger almost all the time. The life of a Paramedic is very busy, but heroic.
If you desperately need help and it is a life and death situation, call 995.
For anything else like if you are having your first menstruation, you have diarrhea, you cannot stop sneezing, you sprained your ankle or you got bitten by a hamster, call 1777 or take a cab to the nearest hospital. Do not call 999.

The fire bike is usually activated during peak hours and/or heavy traffic jam when there is a severe accident or major fire and the fire engine cannot get there in time. This backpack weighs a mad 27.6kg!!! It contains enough PUNCH to put out a fire burning car. (Firefighting is definitely not for the weak!!!)

Heavy!!!

An Officer's Coat =)))

The jets of water gushing out is really powerful you need a proper standing stance to counter the strong force of ejaculation or you might fall backwards and injure yourself.

The Firemen have only minimal time to get out of whatever they are doing(bathing or eating or passing motion) whenever the alarm sounds. Taking the stairs will definitely be too slow, fire doesn't burn slowly. They use THE POLE!!!

The fire can get too raging difficult to fight so there's a Combine Platform Ladder (CPL) to to put the fire out from above and also to rescue victims on high altitudes.

The ladder can go up to about 25m in height (about 8 floors high)

We enjoyed our tour around Central Fire Station. Most importantly, we understood the importance of the role of SCDF in Firefighting and other Rescue Operations. It is a heroic career and all of us left very impressed and proud of SCDF.
Here's a Video taken of a raging fire outbreak in a HDB block at Jalan Rajah. There is a maid trapped in the apartment (you will notice she was inside for at least 3 minutes and you can hear her screaming very loudly and clearly). The Maid was rescued and she did not suffer from any burns, just smoke inhalation. I say she's a very very lucky human being. LTA Foo was one of the fireman battling this fire =)))
Here's another HUGE fearsome fire!!! You can witness several explosions here.

"I wanna be a Hero. I wanna be a Fireman when I grow up!"
